Question R134 AC Conversion

I am in the process of converting the existing R12 AC system to R134 on my 1984 Ford Pickup with a 302 V8 the AC compressor failed, before it failed the AC worked fine. I have done this conversion before with great success, however, when I purchased the conversion components (i.e. compressor, Dryer, etc.) I was sold a new orifice tube. I started taking the system apart and have replaced the Dryer. The new compressor instructions say I have to replace the orifice tube. I have replaced all the O-rings with new ones and I have yet to find where the old orifice tube goes. Is this really needed, I have not found where the original orifice tube was located ? Help can someone shed some light on the subject I have asked my parts house and they have not shared any light on this subject other than to tell me that this componenet is required

R134 AC Conversion

If your compressor failed chances are that you have metal clogging your orifice tube that will make your a/c system not work properly. You will find the orifice tube located on the high pressure side (small diameter tube) of the evaporator core. This is located on the right (passenger) side firewall under the hood. Hope this helps you out.
