Help with hood not latching

Hey guys, after replacing my core support, it seems something has gone askew. I never touched my fenders, inner fenders, or hood however now when I go to close the hood, the spring and arm (lack of better word) are too far forward to land in their respective spots. The only thing I'm not sure of is how many washers I need between bushings and core support. Kit came with 3/side and I have 2 right now. (POs work wasn't great so didn't have a starting point). So I'm not sure why things aren't lining up. Any help is appreciated

Note* grinnergetter and I did some measurements with his two trucks and mine but can't find any issues

Tl;dr look at pics for issues

Well if you didn't mess with the hood or fenders and their gaps look good then the core support is either too far back or needs the top tilted forward. Loosen your core support bolts up if you haven't already and see if it will move. If I remember right most of the holes are slotted enough to allow adjustment.

It's pulled as far forward as it will go. Top is barely able to screw in to fender yet it seems like the top needs to come out more... but how.... short of bending the whole dang thing which I don't wanna do. I'd like to fix it the right way lol

Ideas:

Fenders bolted to wrong side of core support.

Hood gap too much at cowl.

Fenders are on the outside of the core support , and all bolt holes line up. It's how I took my old one off. I'm assuming that's correct?

Hood gap is 1/4" if anything wouldn't the gap be too small because the hood would need to come out further? Also remember I moved the hood or fenders so if it's wrong, why did it work before? Lol

Are you sure your replacement core support was the correct year? I think that they are interchangeable from 73 to 79, but I am not sure.

73-77 then 78/79....differences are the head light bucket mount hole placement. Round versus rectangle headlights?

Also different size radiator hole for what ever options/radiator that the truck has.

Can you get a side by side truck comparison? One for sure stock none moded truck and yours and see what is not that same.

I know it's not the same year as there are a couple of holes that aren't the same but other than that it looks to be the same. I was able to still mount my headlights so I guess it would be from a 73-75 truck as mines a 74 also radiator fit no problems. I swore I saw no differences before I started cleaning up the new one.

I don't have a way to compare side by side to another truck but grinnergetter and I did some measurements and they all seem to be the same

My only thought would be is it some how bent back or did a different year curve back more??? Idk sounds dumb but I don't know why else things wouldn't line up (other than the universe playing cruel tricks on me)

Edit* I'll try to get some more pictures, maybe I'll get lucky and somebody will notice a simple solution... fingers crossed lol

You have any extra washers? Look like you could space the latch assembly forward a bit and it would line up OK....sorry, no idea why it would have mooved on ya.

How about some pics of the front end where the core support connects to the fender?

Are you 100% positive the core support is for a 73-79 Ford truck?

I will try to go take some pics of my 79 parts truck, the outer grill shell is off the truck.

Yeah that's my last resort, I'd like to if possible figure out what if anything moved or why it's not lining up. To get it driving yeah I could just space it for it to latch

I'll take some pics, I mean I assume it's for a 73-79 ford truck... do other years look the same? Lol (serious question as I thought only dentside core supports looked like each other)!

I don't know but your L bracket looks pretty wore out from the picture. I'll bet you'll have problems with it sticking when you do finally figure out what's going on.

If everything looks good, washers might work?

Also grinnergetter suggested hanging the grill to see what hit. I hung it just by the two bolts that go on either side of the hood latch and as suspected, the hood hits the grill and doesn't close behind it
