The door handles were loose on my wife's '54.
I removed the drivers side in an attempt to fix it.
I took it to work and milled off the four swaged tabs.Took it apart and found the big spring was broken the shaft was worn with grooves in it and the side plate shaft holes were worn out.
I thought I could re-swage the side plate holes to make them smaller but it was not going to work.
Even with replacing the shaft I think it would still be sloppy because of the worn side plates and would still have a bad spring.
I just ordered new regulators from Mid Fifty.
