12v Power for trailer plug

Gentlemen,

I'm wiring in a 7 pin trailer plug on my '86 F150. I've got everything set except for the 12v power. Is there a wire in the back I can splice into? If not can i just piggy back off the hot wire for my brake controller and run back from there or do I need to run a new line from the trailer plug up to the positive terminal on my battery and do an in line Fuze? Im sure there's already a post about this somewhere, but i couldnt track it down, so if someone just wants to point me in that direction that'd be fine. I appreciate your help in advance.

You need to run a short 10 gauge wire directly off the battery + and put a 30 amp circuit breaker on it. Then run from that to a bosch style 30 amp relay. Then from the relay, run back to the trailer plug.

You then need to run a very small wire from the relay to inside the cab and plug it into the fuse box where something gets power only when the key is on. This will keep the trailer from running down your truck battery.

So what's the best way to wire that relay?

from Positive Battery Terminal to 30A Fuze to 30 pin
from 85 pin to Negative Battery Terminal
From 87 pin to trailer plug
from 86 pin to open fuze box position only on when car is on
Leave center 87A pin unconnected?

I appreciate the help. Never wired a relay before.

Say what?
Then I read the full post and why the relay.

This 12 volt line is to recharge the trailer battery so use 10 gauge wire minamum.
I have alway run it off the battery with a 40 amp breaker and never had any problems.
