I see how this could be annoying, but I have the opposite probelm.
I have a '15 F-150 with the older version of Sync and if your volume isn't all the way up on your phone, you have to turn the volume on the Sync nearly to max to get any decent sound through the speakers. So everytime I want to play music from my phone, I have to turn the volume on my phone to max so that I can listen to muisc without maxing the speakers in the truck.
Seems like I have the opposite problem which makes me believe it was done on purpose by Ford to fix my annoying problem, but it has now left you with an annoying problem. Haha.
I assume we're all talking about SYNC3? The system is entirely different than the basic SYNC system. I've never connected to a SYNC3 system, but my iPhone 7 has never done this with SYNC or MFT.
I wonder if this is something that would be fixed with a future software update?
I'm sure it will be Tom. Like I said in previous posts, I've seen similar things like this happen before. When enough folks complain to Ford and Apple, it suddenly get's addressed in the next iOS or Sync update.
I rarely use the radio physical USB / Car Play connection (I don't like apple maps).
I use the USB connection, for the higher audio quality almost exclusively, when I run Spotify.
I use the BT (non wired) connection only for hands-free cell conversation, so this may be why I haven't observed the (maxed out) ringer issue.
Just a note, on mine it isn't the phone volume, but the ringer volume. Phone volume doesn't change, just the ringer volume. Phone volume is tied to each BT device that is connected, so the phone volume changes to match what you had the last time you were connected to that specific BT device, then back to normal when disconnected. Every time I leave my truck, my ringer is up on max.
I have a 6S and a 7-Plus and have not had this happen but I have gotten into the truck multiple times and it was trying to call my voicemail (my number) and there isn't much I can do besides restart the phone. Seems to only do it on my 6S. I am blaming the phone but I really have no idea why it keeps doing it. It freezes the trucks interface until I power down the phone to force it off of Bluetooth.
I was hoping some sort of update to the Sync would resolve at some point.
I also have never been able to get the Ford app to pull in any truck info like fuel level etc. but that is just user error I assume. LOL
You have to have the phone plugged into the USB port, then open the app, go into 'Apps' on the Sync screen. It's a crap shoot if the Ford app will show up there as it didn't work for me the first couple times, but then did the next time I got in the truck.
Honestly, don't waste your time. The app is rather pointless for our trucks.
