Any ideas what could be causing the below? My guess is it's going to be hard for a dealer to fix since it's sporadic.....
Driving, Regardless of Cruise or Any Setting (previously thought it was a cruise issue it's not)
Instrument Panel Pops up a Message Infering the Truck Was Turned Off IE vehicle is not in park or cruise not available
Instrument Panel Turns Off - Including RPMs and Speed
All Other Vehicle Functions Constinue to Work Including the Entertainment Center
After 1-2 Minutes Instrument Panel Comes Back Alive
I pulled the 7.5 fuse that is shared for the Instrument Panel and the AC , nothing wrong with it
I also unhooked the batteries but have not driven it enough to see if it's still going on since
All of this leads me to believe it's an issue with whatever switch or relay causes the instrument Cluster to go into shutdown mode or a programming issue perhaps....
This morning the Instrument Cluster Worked but in the settings menu all options requiring the front facing camera were blacked out IE lane departure/collision warning but... the features still worked even though I could not change the settings. After a vehicle restart all were functioning in the settings as well.
Help is Appreciated

No, nothing like those you describe. But, I've noticed a few problems with information center. Mine would constantly always start with the tow menu, even tho it wasn't the last menu I left it on. Then I noticed the 5th wheel RV I set up in the towing menu was still accruing miles, even tho it wasn't hooked up. I ended up deleting the trailer all together. It now tends to default to the off road menu when I first start up, not the fuel economy menu that I leave it in when I shut down. Electrical gremlins.
Interesting thank you for chiming in the more I read the more I am convinced it has to be a firmware issue.... hopefully Ford has an update soon. It can't be so different and be a hardware issue.
Electrical items aaide this is by far my favorite truck to date and I have had a few.

What you describe with the towing screen is not a gremlin, its how the trucks are designed to work. I agree, it is stupid...but that's what they all do. After you are done towing and have the trailer disconnected, you have to go to trailer options and make sure no trailer is selected. Then that towing screen will not come up every time. The next time you restart the truck, whatever screen you were last on should come up. Defaulting to off road is strange, although a mini off-road screen is part of the towing screen.

I heard this issue described many times here but it hasn't been my experience. I was paying attention to it this weekend and noticed that as soon as I disconnected the 20' utility trailer (so named in my selection of trailers) the message "Trailer Disconnected" automatically comes up on screen. Then I switch to trailer information screen and "No Active Trailer" is selected. Bottom line, I don't have to go into my trailer information screen and select No Trailer. All I have to do is pay attention to selecting the correct trailer I plug in before I drive away with it. I'm going off memory on the messages so I may be off a bit but you get the point.

Have you added anything involving electronics/electrics to the vehicle?
If no, then my first suspicion would be the Body Control Module. Always check the easiest and cheapest thing to fix first -- Like the ground on the BCM.
Go from there.
My first suggestion would be to take it back to the Dealer.

Interesting. I certainly get the "trailer disconnected" message when I unplug (whether the truck is idling or turned off. If turned off, the "trailer disconnected" message appears shortly after restarting.)
Regardless, my trailer continues to be selected and accumulate miles, and the default message screen continues to be "towing" regardless of what I switch it to.

That's what it does for me, anyway...
It's a gremlin or a programming goof on certain trucks. The purpose of that menu/function is to allow the user to track the mileage of different trailers. My previous 6.7L Superduty's all performed as Epic describes; The computer keeps up the miles of the selected trailer while it's connected. Once disconnected it stopped accumulating miles. I had to delete the trailer completely to get it to stop.
I'd be curious to see if other are experiencing this as well and see if the issue can be isolated to certain build date ranges or if it's just a random problem. Mine was built October 2016.
Anyone have a picture of the BCM on these and the associated ground?
That would actually make sense but so does a programming gremlin.
Thanks!
I am letting the delaer scan it tomorrow but I doubt it shows anything .... I'm not letting them tear my brand new truck apart for an issue that is not identifiable , no way , I can hear the rattles now.
