Hey everyone, hope you all are well. Been crazy for me for the last year+ but hopefully I have time to be on here a little more.
Just finished up with quite a few things on my truck. I pulled the engine out since I was doing so many things.
Here is a list:
New AC Code injectors
New Bosch 17 degree HPOP
SD turbo conversion
Garrett 38R turbo
Bellowed up-pipes
Comp Cams 910 valve springs
SD valve cover gaskets
DIY-ish Efuel with Strictly Diesel harness and Mark Fufazzotto fuel block
Riffraff billet plenums
AFE Bladerunner intake spyder
New pads, rotors, calipers
New radiator, waterpump, hoses
I resealed the oil pan while I was there and rebuilt the oil cooler. I didn't take near as many pics as I wanted as I was short on time and I didn't have someone to run the camera.
These are when I first had the engine out. Not much room in the shop.
AC Codes in, springs in, going back together.
Back in the engine bay.
Looks good!! as small as that space is, it sure must be nice to work on concrete instead of pine needles and mud like I have in my front yard... There is no telling how many bolts I have lost in the muck while working. Thank goodness I have a parts truck to take nicknaks off of instead of buying new.

Ya concrete is def better than mud or pine needles! That used to be me several years back. I'd take the small space inside any day.

Hi Glenn! Too long unfortunately, seems I've missed a lot of happenings. Sorry to hear about the Mare but awesome to see so many people come together to get you back on the road again!
Looking good man, how much did you have to modify the down pipe to fit the 99+ setup?
Thanks!
I had both the stock SD down pipe and my Diamond Eye down pipe. The SD one was not even close to fitting. I had to cut the Diamond Eye in one spot on the bottom side and change the angle a little so it would fit the bell joint. Other than that I just had to weld the SD flange on. It wasn't too bad. I also put new Energy suspension cab mounts in at the same time so that helped with clearance.
Been a long time Chris! I was thinking of you a week or so ago, wondering where you have been. Truck is looking excellent like always! Nice set of upgrades you did there.
Hi Darin! I actually drove through your area again for work a couple weeks ago. Went to Terra Haute Indiana and back in 3 days, about 2800 miles so I didn't have much time to stop lol.
Nice work. If my eyes don't deceive me, those look like Dorman VC gaskets. How long have you been running them? Any issues?
Yes they are Dorman and I hope it doesn't bite me in the *** but I have read both good and bad on them. I like that they don't have the problematic inner connector, its all one piece.
I have used them for a month and so far so good, they seem to be decent quality.
Same here. So I also bought a set and as soon as I did 3 or 4 people started telling me all the problems they've had with them. So that just got me a little worried. It's good to hear some positive feedback.

I also heard about their issues but read a lot more recent things about them being not too bad.
Those were the first things I changed out on my donor truck and just ran with those with no issues for about 8 months. I think they used to have an older design that was flawed, and they "recently" redid them so they are actually pretty good. There seems to be no damage to the pins or plug connectors after I re-did them the whole time I've been using them.
However, my replacement 96 motor has the engine harness in great shape (no burnt pins and original pigtails) as well as the stock ford valve covers so I'm going to use those for now. If need be, I can grab those dorman covers since I'll have them sitting around on my old motor when I pull it!
