Shock brand/model recommendations

I need to replace all 4 shocks on my 95 Ford F150. I know I don't need the best but want good quality. I do some towing, a boat about 4 to 5K lbs. Suggestions? Thanks.

X2 for Bilstein. The yellow 4600 HD is the model. Coming up on 3 years with my set and not one issue, just good damping in everything I use my truck for (highway, around town, washboard, 4 wheeling, hauling). I don't tow a trailer much these days, so can't really comment there but I'd expect then to perform.

I haven't ever used them because of the price, but plenty others say that Bilstein are great. I personally have Monroe gas magnums and like them a lot.

I'll second the rancho 5000 series, good quality and price. Made a huge difference on my truck from the new Monroe shocks I had.

My roommate went that route. They've worked well, huge improvement over his worn 100k mile stock shocks. I went back and forth between Bilstein and Rancho9000 (adjustability sounds good), the selling point for me was monotube vs twin tube, but I doubt anyone would regret either choice.

I have Monroe Gas Magnum on my truck and had them on my old truck. They are good and don't break the bank. I have had Rancho RS5000 and hated them. Then tried RSX and disliked them as well. I have considered Bilstein, but couldn't justify the cost.

The thing about Bilstein is that they are a better ride, and last longer. Over total life cost, you might even break even compared to replacing cheap-o shocks.

How about motorcraft shocks? I need to replace my shocks as well ('89 f150) and was going to go the motorcraft route.

Monroe shocks have a lifetime warranty. Buying one set gets you a set for life.

Wink

Just a heads up, we updated the RS5000 (and are continuing to do so) to the updated RS5000X, a way better performing shock.
And the RSX is old school too!!! Haven't bee around for over a decade plus.

Yep on the Monroe and Rancho. Save that receipt, that is the proof of purchase.

Well, If the RS5000 is still just a dampening shock and not a gas charged shock, I would still suggest something else. I've never ridden in a vehicle with Rancho that I thought rode well.
