I have a 2012 with 60,000 miles. for the longest time the exhaust outlet was clean, but now it is black inside. my friend has a 2015 with about the same miles and his is still clean. I just don't know if it's a problem.
thought about deleting but its under warranty for a while still. I bought it new as a double leftover. its only 3.5 years old. besides that it runs so good the way it is. can't tell anything is wrong except for the black pipe
As previously mentioned, you have a cracked DPF. If it is still covered under your warranty, have it replaced. They will run a bunch of tests on it for Ford to prove it is bad, and then they will order you a new one and install it. For now, you have a "factory delete" of sorts and your regens will be based solely on mileage.
I went through this exact same thing a few years ago with mine. After a year, I started to get soot deposits at the tailpipe, and could even catch a glimpse of smoke when giving it throttle from a dead stop, if I was watching my right side mirror when pulling out.
If you find that they won't warranty it for some reason, you can run with it like that until you start to get a CEL continuously, or spend the money that they WOULD charge you to replace it with another DPF, on a delete kit and never worry about it again - assuming you live in a non-testing area.
