Have an 87 with 302 EFI. Switching out to 84 351W carb with mech fuel pump. Is the tank in the middle of the frame same except for the sending unit?
To be a bit more clear; Can I switch out the sending unit with one for a mechanical fuel pump? I am not using the electric pump that was original to the EFI. I am looking to see if it is as simple as just installing the correct sending unit.

Thanks,

probably not. But I'd check tank part numbers at your favorite auto parts website.
It really depends in the end on what pressures you are looking for. I don't know much about carbs but I always thought they run around 5 psi. The 87 stock should have a low pressure in tank pump to feed the high pressure pump in line. Would the low pressure in tank feed you enough to run a carb?
Id probably find an efi donor with a 351 and leave it efi, since carbs are so finicky.
The Edelbrock I am feeding needs 5.5, correct. I regulate that with a Edelbrock 5.5 mechanical pump. Love EFI, hate the electronics required to make them work.
