I have a 2005 V10 gasser and I'm trying to get 12v to the center pin for trailer back up lights. The truck connector is factory wired, there is a fuse in the trailer back up fuse position (27 I think) but there is no relay in relay position 211. The owner's manual says that relay 211 is only for diesel X's yet I don't have 12V at the trailer connector. Do I need 211 in spite of what the owner's manual says?
I hope to add the same capability to my '02 V10. I haven't checked the center pin for power and assumed it was there. I've subscribed to this.

Not saying this is your problem but it made me laugh because I just had a buddy do it. He was baffled, I put it in reverse and viola, power !
Yes Captain Obvious I checked with the key on and in reverse
The consensus is that what the owner's manual means when it says DIESEL ONLY is that it's only installed from the factory in the oil burners. Gassers have to fend for themselves. I'm going to go pick up a relay tomorrow and find out. Will post results.
And on that subject Captain Obvious I once had a client order a bunch of magnetic signs. He picked them up then brought back some saying they were defective. Turned out they were for the back of his Excursions. Hilarity ensued when I said "Um, sir, the back doors of an Excursion are fiberglass"

I wonder how many F150 owners are scratching their heads wondering why their old door magnets don't work anymore...

UPDATE:
I picked up a relay today and it seems that the gassers have no wiring or connectors in that relay spot since the relay goes in the slots but falls out. Back to the drawing board.
Anyone know where the factory trailer hitch wiring comes into the dash?

I think there has been a slight redesign since 2002, but my Wiring Diagram shows a Trailer Tow Relay, Reversing Lamp - K357.
I think the "K" series relays are on the back of the fuse panel.
So the actual Trailer Tow relay, reversing lamp location may the same on yours.
According to a 2005 Owners Manual I found on-line relay #211 Backup Lamps relay may be for the vehicle back-up lights.
Also, the fuse for Trailer tow back-up lamps is #39.
