I'm a total newbie at ordering and what to expect (beyond what my dealer is telling me, which isn't much). My order for a CCSB SRW 350 6.7 Platinum was submitted 2 days ago (already feels like a month). Dealer said we just wait a couple of weeks until a VIN is generated, then they can track it - not before (true?). He sent me a screenshot of the order confirmation.
These COTUS and ETIS systems - is that something I can lookup? Also - I was trying to find a post somewhere of what the steps are from order to delivery. I see a lot of threads with varying times - so I know thats unpredictable. But the type A in me wants to know the process, and if there is something I can check in on. Thanks

You are in for a long wait if 2 days is killing you already.
How could they track your truck if a VIN has not been assigned? What would there be to track?
For my F350 COTUS was worthless and did not work. I hear it works for the 250's. ETIS is not going to be any use until the truck is built and is just going to be a bunch of text describing what your truck was built with and what date it was built.
The only way I was able to get info was through my dealer.
4-17-2017 Ordered Truck
4-24-2017 Got VIN and production dates of 6-5-2017 to 6-11-2017
5-8-2017 Email saying truck in production ETA 6-11-2017
5-23-2017 Email saying it was in transit May 22-30 and at dealer on June 5th.
The truck showed up at the dealer on June 6th, but I think I picked it up on the 7th.
So there was some dead time between updates for me. The only thing I might have possibly changed was getting the center console. But I only though of that about 1 week before my truck was delivered and did not want to start the process over.
They possibly could. But I assume it is all just a paperwork shuffle until it gets to production and it does not get to production without a VIN.
Are you expecting to track the paperwork from inbox to inbox?
Sorry, could not help myself with that comment. Just not sure what you expect to track before a VIN.
This was my first ordered truck as well, so I have an idea what you are going through. Hang in there and it will be over before you know it.
I know nobody has a crystal ball on what rebates will be available at a certain time. But, is there any pattern based on history (i.e. the closer it gets to next model year, the more aggressive they become, or in the month of X, they typically____. I'm guessing I'll have delivery in September. If I took delivery this month on an inventory model of a similar F350 Platinum that I ordered, looks like I only qualify for the $750 Ford financing rebate... Hoping it gets better than that.

I was told that the current $1500 customer cash and $750 FMCC are good til Sept 30/Oct 1. That does not prevent them from coming in any time and layering another customer cash offer or similar incentive on top of those.
If the incentives / rebates go up Oct 1 or before I would think it would be a decision based on sales/inventory. So....... Wait on the 2018..... Do NOT order 2017 or buy on lot. I have an order going in and you can all help me maximize my rebates!!
Don't know what to say. As a test, here's a link to a random vehicle sitting on a dealer's lot. It should automatically download the sticker as a .pdf file. Works for me. http://www.windowsticker.forddirect....7W2B60HEE14744

yes it works most of the time. But dealers apparently have a way to chose to have them available on that system... or not. I know one dealer in particular that has units on the lot and you cannot view the window stickers on line. I had to submit an email requesting a window sticker and they emailed it. That was the only way to get it. Without it its very difficult to determine all the options...... You have to try and go through their description that list every cup holder , one light, etc etc etc
