So it "appears" that all the plugs are still hooked up and intact on the distributor. These are the best pics for now. I snapped a couple on the way out the door to work
First encounter with an electronic controlled carburetor and distributor. I have a lot to learn and that's exactly what I would like to do if possible. I'd like to learn with this truck and not just start taking parts off. Y'all have been great. Thanks
Yeah, that's the grey TFI thing, it will be lots happier with everything at least hooked up and, ideally, working.
OK, go ahead and get that EVAP valve hooked up again, the computer certainly knows about that problem and would be throwing a CEL (MIL) on the dash if these trucks had one. It's not exceedingly difficult at all to ask the computer what it thinks is going on but it takes some patience.
Which reminds me... Ray over in France is kinda in the same situation, but with more advanced built-in diagnostics... but I have virtually zero idea of how the French run their systems, and I don't have any French books and so can't help there myself but the aftermarket offers varying degrees of help in figuring that stuff out...
So on more question...at least for today. I won't be able to get a factory air cleaner for a few weeks, until I can make it to the salvage yard. Obviously I'm not going to be able to keep my hands off of a truck that begs to be driven. What will need to be addressed as far as not having the air cleaner? Vac lines/electrical.

Probably nothing. The factory air cleaner had a hose for the thermostat so it could control the inlet air temp to the carb. But, surely the PO plugged that when he put the itty bitty air cleaner on. Surely?
When I got the truck I drove it about 2 miles to my house. Truck ran (sort of) would not idle for anything. Carb was flooding bad. Took carb off and rebuilt. Float was way out of adjustment. Have not put the carb back on yet becuase in the process of removing and rebuilding the carb is when I learned of this magical thing called an electronically controlled carb. Never seen one before. That's where I'm at right now. Trying to get as much of the vac and electrical worked out so when I get the carb on I have the best chance for everything running and then I can figure out what direction I want to go with motor.
Check very carefully for any and all vacuum leaks. All sensors [MAP, O2 sensor, temp. for the computer, etc.] must be connected and functioning for the computer to be able to control the system.
