I know this is off topic here, But.
Have any of you used an auto carrier that did what they told you?
I had no problem with the guy that brought my 79' "Ka'Bluey" out here to North Carolina, but he doesn't do that work any more.
I had one outfit "Hired" to pick Ka'Bluey up, and take him back to Missouri, to a buddy's shop that will store him until we move back home May 5th. "National Transport" (remember that name) told me that they'd get my truck picked up within 5 to 7 business days. Well, today is day number 7, and not an email, nor phone call. So I called them, and cancelled the order, since they can't seem to get the job done.
Now I'm going through the 12 plus emails that I do deserve getting for doing another on line quote. I'm checking BBB web sight also.
First I tried letting the shippers bid (I was having 2 trucks moved) but the prices were too high. I cancelled that and set a specific price (like a "buy it now" price on e-Bay) that I could live with. A shipper accept that price, delivery went without a hitch.
You can see reviews of past customers who hired the shippers. That's helpful.

Thanks Bruce, I forgot about them, I used to watch the show.
I bought the 78 from an E-bay seller in Washington state and had it shipped via truck. The truck picked it up a day or two late, spent an extra day running around SeaTac, and spent the weekend in Gardena. I picked it up at a depot in Palm Springs to avoid the final delivery fee.
The communication wasn't very good, but it was only a couple days late.

And I'm finding out that you are correct. I used a broker to get Ka'Bluey (my 79) transported out here to North Carolina, and had zero issues. And have been trying to save that brokers fee this time around, and I'm not getting anywhere, fast.
I hired another broker yesterday, they made $150 that I would have loved to have kept, but, I already have a transport companies name, drivers information, and the truck should be picked up by this Friday at the latest.
As a truck driver I can tell you this: Most of such transports go through brokers that cannot guarantee that they find a truck to do the job depending on where the pickup and delivery are. Some freight lanes are easy, some are not.
Your best bet is to contact a local car hauler directly and be flexible. This is not like UPS where they have a truck going past everyone's house once a day.
