That tag as far as I know doesn't contain any important info and can't de decoded except the body no. and style which you don't have. The plate you want to decode is the one in the middle of the firewall.
Nathan's correct on the frame rail VIN. You might have to check both rails, some folks have found it on the passenger side and some on the driver side. It's usually between the front of the cab and the front axle, maybe 12 to 16 inches behind the axle.
That could be true, however, several folks have found 55 VINs on the driver side, 56 VINs on the passenger side, and 57 VINs back on the driver side in the states. I would be more comfortable if there was a lot larger Canadian data sample to draw conclusions from.
DAG50-48 6684 indicates it was the 6684th built in 1948. I believe their where only 9500 built.
Something isnt right on the plate you do have. They are stamped and have raised characters roughly 3" high and 5" long. it should contain the weight, lengh, vin #, color, etc...
