Smile Smooth Idle

Have a 2017 F-350 CCSB 6.7 and just love the truck.
I cant get over how smooth the idle is. Much smoother than my 2015 6.7
How do they get a diesel to idle like that. I also notice the u-joints on the Dana 60 are larger than the ones on my 15.

I don't believe there is any difference in how smooth these trucks are at idle. I had two 2016 models and now my 2017...they all idled incredibly smoothly. There is very little difference between 2015 and 2017 diesel engines.

As for upgraded axle u-joints on the front, what makes you so sure? I think they are exactly the same. But I could be wrong.

U-joints are about 5in across instead of 4. Mine have all idled nice but my 17 is the smoothest of all

Here's the front u-joints on my 2016 F-350...

And here's the front u-joint on my 2017. IMHO they are the same.

I've had an '11 and '14 and I think the '17 is definitely smoother and quieter. A buddy of mine with a GMC Denali 3500 can't get over how much quieter the 6.7L is than his truck.

I can tell you the 6.7L Ford is much quieter than the Ram I test drove.

Mine is definitely louder than my 2011, but in a good way. I always wished for just a bit more diesel sound on the 2011 and the 2017 delivered.

Good to hear Epic. With everyone posting how quiet the 17 was compared to previous ones, I thought I was the only one that had a little more diesel(ish) sound coming from under the hood. Made me think mine was going to blow up...
