Added backup lights to the trailer hitch. Created an adjustable bracket (two levels of adjustment) and welded it to the clear end of the hitch square tubing. Used Rigid D-SS Pair Side Shooters. Wiring is tied into backup circuit for bed 5th wheel trailer lights.
Did the same thing. 50 bucks for the lights, wire, and fender washers at tractor supply. Ran one line to upfitter #1 and one common ground. I have 5% tint on the back so this helps a lot at night.
Great job, the open holes on the side of the frame there have been calling to me as well. Any chance you could shoot some night shots of the throw on the Rigids?
What sort of difference in ride/handling did you notice?
Sorry for the thread hijack.
np... I have not noticed any difference on "comfort" but I also replaced the front with Hellwig 7712 Front Sway Bar.. used Energy Suspension Polyurethane bushings so engagement is quick (front and rear) Set bars close to 90 degrees so arc is correct. ... tracks very flat with no load to heavy load.

Really like this mod! Great work and selection of Side Shooters too! I like where the lights are installed too - tucked up and out of the way.
Any chance you'll sell these brackets so all buyers would need to do is have them welded on and rattle can painted?
What's "bed 5th wheel trailer lights?" (I don't yet have the truck) Do these lights come on when you put the truck into reverse? I'd like that instead of having to manually switch them on using an Upfitter switch (but that would be OK).

Thanks for sharing this great mod.
.. if you get the 5th wheel prep package then it has a wiring harness that you can tap into... otherwise use the standard trailer harness and tap into the backup light wire so they come on with reverse... very bright flood.. 1.7amps per light
For my back up lights, I use a pair of Whelen Ions mounted on a license plate bracket. Theses Ions are dual color. They flash red (think fire department lights) and have a clear override feature. I like this mount location because the lights don't abuse when I happen to back into snow banks in the winter. The Ions are available as single color clears also. Hoping to post a video soon.

I have the 5th wheel prep package. Where is this wiring harness? TY

From underneath the truck, reach between the bed and fender and disconnect
the wiring harness from the vehicle 7 pole connector socket. Pull loose at least one wire harness body clip and the plug end will drop down sufficiently to splice the backup feed and a ground.
