'56 F100. I have an aftermarket bench seat. It is in the way of everything and has to be taken out before I can do anything inside. I had my old fuse block in the kick panel recess and that is just not going to be an option. I'm thinking about putting it in the engine compartment but worried about protecting it from the elements. What have you all done. Photos would be cool. My truck is JUNK and I'm way more interested in function than looks. Thanks
When I rewired mine, for 12 volt, I put the fuse box above the steering column. Not too hard to get to, but I so wish I had put it on the inner fender.
Both of mine are up under the dash next to the parking brake. I made brackets that bolt to my hanging brake bracket and another to the attachment point of the parking brake ..
As you can see I am currently installing the wiring as things are not yet as neat as they will be. I installed the fuse panel inside in the middle of the firewall with the US Shift transmission module and the Lokar shift indicator modules right next to it where they are protected but easy to reach. I'm using the Ron Francis Bare Bonz kit and the wiring precut lengths seem to indicate this is the location they would recommend. The same with the US Shift harnesses as I have not had to modify any of their harnesses. The electronic 4R70W has almost more circuits than the rest of the truck but all the kits come with good instructions. Only the neutral start circuit has needed some interpretation.

If you are running an older engine with no computer sensors (ECM/ECU/MAF/trans control, etc) but are running a transmission that requires these inputs in order to shift, then this module simulates the engine sensors. For instance, a friend is running a built 312 Y-block in his 56 but he wanted a late model 4R70W automatic transmission behind it...he uses the Baumann unit to make the transmission shift correctly.
