If I had a plain white truck, I'd want to do something to spice it up as well. Since you've got a Mustang to pair it with, your idea sounds like one that would work. I vote to go for it!
I voted "No", but there is an older '98 or so up here that it looks good on. White, with that color blue and style stripe on it. His truck is lifted and has some style of aftermarket tires/wheels.
If you're going to leave it stock, I'd say no.
I think you may be better off PTMing your grille, door handles, and bumper cover, and leave the stripe off.
White is a color that can, with a few mods, look pretty good, old school way.
Since the pic was taken i have added a chrome grill, window tint, running boards, mud flaps, and am in the process of swapping in nav and a bu camera, so its not quite so plain now. Im looking for a ptm upper bumper cover. Not sure if Im painting the bumpers or going with chrome, it all depends on what I can find on the used market. The XLT grill is mint and only cost me $100.

Photos? May I add another suggestion? My taste dictates a PTM bumpers, and PTM grille surround. But whatever you do, I'm sure it will look.
I'm redoing my grille right now. I have the surround PTMed, and it held up well until about a month ago, so I bought a paintable one from Fairway Ford.
What chrome grille did you get?
