V10 shift points

Towing about 6k on our trip and notice with a head wind it keeps shifting in and out of 5th gear to maintain 70mph. Any way to get it to stay in 4th longer? 2010 with a 5 star Tuner running 89 octane tune and in tow haul.

Sometimes you just have to adjust the speed if you're right on the spot where it's going to keep shifting. Maybe either 68 or 72.

I assume you don't have the optional manual automatic transmission.

I don't think you can expect much better. Smaller tires may help to lower gearing but who wants smaller tires?

Adjust your speed, it's the nature of the v10. What rear gear do have? 4.30 will put it in the sweet spot but if you have them not much can be done.

Was manual shifting an option in 2010? I only have the ability to put it in 3rd and lower. The power is good, just wish I could keep it in the sweet spot. I think I have 4.10s

I believe BD Diesel is the company that makes an aftermarket manual selector for our trannys. It works the same way as the 11 n up dutys do. You can manually select all gears in your auto tranny. It replaces your stock shifter and plugs into your obd port. They are about $6-800 Canadian up here.

Now that I mentioned this, I don't think they are available for the V10! These units are made for the 6.4 diesel motor/trannys.
