New carb

New carb
I have a 1973 Ford with a 390 4 speed. I want to replace the original wore out Carb with a Holley Street Avenger 500 CFM with a electric choke. My question is will this bolt up to the stock bolt pattern on the 390's 2 bbl intake? For what it costs for a rebuilt I'd rather have a new one and gain some CFM

or if you have a 2100/2150 MC carb then a Holley 2300 v2 in the 500 CFM range should bolt on to your intake.

Holley also makes a 2300 v2 in 350 CFM range
The 2300 is half a v4 carb and uses all the same parts as the v4 carbs.
I have a 500 CFM on a AMC 304 in place of the 2100 MC carb best thing I did to the motor.
If you are going to go with a v4 also change out the intake or it is not worth installing the v4 carb.

For my money Id definitely get a new carburettor, and a four-barrel setup would probably gain mileage as well as performance. Even a cheap used intake would be worth it with a new 4bbl on top.
If you want to stay 2bbl then a new 500cfm two barrel Holley is a great choice.
Cheers - boingk
EDIT: Just realized that they make the 'Street Avenger' series in two barrels, so obviously you are talking about the 2bbl 500 SA carb: https://www.holley.com/products/fuel.../parts/0-80500
Great choice. I've used their 570 on a Chrysler 6cyl and it was great, with a jump from 17 to 22mpg in cruise and much more power across the board.

I'm in the same boat, but have a 360. From what I can tell, I think I need that same carb (Street Avenger 2 barrel, 500). I know nothing about carburetors, so I'm trying to find all of the info I can get. I currently have the stock (non-running) Motocraft 2100 2 barrel, which is rusted out.

Ok I have made a decision! I am gonna not mess around with old or rebuilt stuff I am gonna get a new Edelbrock intake and a 600 cfm edelbrock 4bbl carb with electric choke and mechanical secondaries. The edelbrock has no Power valves to blow so that problem should be eliminated and should have better fuel economy and power when needed!

Can't really blame you. There were a million of these 2100s in different applications. I went with a reman carb, and there were too many surprises. I was in a hurry, so I harvested parts off the reman carb to fix up the one on my 390. In the end, I got the mission accomplished, but I spent a fortune to wind up with a mixture of random stuff that has a lot of holes plugged. Not very satisfying or wise, and not pretty either. You're better off.

Yep
I called my mechanic..... and my phone rang and I said self... Get your a$s in the shop and drain the coolant, pull thermostat etc etc...............
Anywhos, I have that edlebrock performer with a 4160 801457 like you are describing, and it works lovely... and is a fairly common setup you see on builds around here, so you should be safe.....
