The Amps come down lower so it's less of a step up especially if you have a lifted or leveled truck. They also appear to tuck in more and are less visible when retracted. They don't have a chrome lip like the factory ones do that show even when retracted.
And there's a couple other options they have if you care. They can stay down with the doors closed if you want. And they have LEDs that light them up when door is opened that can be set to any color.
They do cost way more that the factory ones if you ordered the factory ones when the truck was built. I don't know how much the factory ones are to add on.
I thought they had to be tied into the factory computer system as part of the ultimate package. Perhaps check with your dealer on if it's possible and the cost.
I do not know this first hand but recall others posting saying that f you did not get power factory running boards from the factory they can not be installed due to a wiring harness.

wow really? That makes it seem like getting the factory power ones.... might not be the best option.

They stick out that bad?
The factory boards don't physically stick out that much, but they visually stick out more than the Amps. They have a chrome lip on them that is obvious even when retracted. I'm not a fan of chrome and am looking to completely black out my next truck and that chrome on the factory step would stick out like a sore thumb on a completely blacked out truck. The Amps definitely seem to disappear more when retracted. That's the biggest reason I am considering the Amps over the factory steps.

i get that because I have Amps on my current truck. I've considered sanding down the chrome and line x that part instead of paint to avoid re painting them.
However the thing that that concerns me and I have not had any real concret fees back yet is how low they come down. Do they drop down as low as the regular amp steps? Because if so then I'm fine with that - I just don't wanna pay for the factory ones if they do not drop low enough. I plan on lifting my truck soooo yeah. I know amp makes an XL power step which I would prefer but that's 1500$ and I would be tossing 700$ worth in power running boards.
