Have owned my 2017 F-250 CC Lariat for about a month and a half. I've put roughly 7K miles on it but have never experienced a regen. Also, there's no gauge to measure how full the filter is. Does the regen occur silently while I'm driving? Would love some more info. First time diesel owner.
I don't have the DPF screen yet either, but once while heading into a stiff headwind I flipped my screen over to the instant mpg, holy crap it was only at 10mpg!. Had me thinking this was the mother of all headwinds, but then again, the smarter side of me started to think it was maybe a regen. It was the regen, within another 15mins my display went up into the lower 20's, same highway, same headwind.
TrikeDawg...very interesting and I think I'll do that too. What else did you have your dealer do that you find very useful. I'm surprise Ford didn't have this installed from factory.
In 7k miles you've experienced quite a few regens. You just never knew about it. They happen in the background and most never notice it. This is how Ford wants it. As much as we try to monitor it, that is exactly the opposite of what Ford wants which is why they disable the % screen. They don't want it to be an event. Just a background process. I'm guilty too of curiosity which is why I have the % screen enabled though.
MPG loss, cooling fan kicks up to "blast-off" levels and the truck has a burning smell when I park or am at a stoplight. This is how I usually tell when it's happening.

I want to try and plan my drive if I am getting close to regen so I can get as complete as I can, I have had a couple stop at only 80%, according to forscan.
I've done the same but the bottom line is, even if you don't, it really doesn't matter. I let it turn into a game on my 2012 watching that silly screen. LOL. Despite having it enabled on my 17, I force myself to leave it off or I'll obsess about it. If it was necessary to complete regens etc., Ford would have left the screen on and instructed us to do so. Before I turned it on with Forscan on my last truck I had 40k miles of blissful ignorance about it. I never knew when it regened or if one completed. I never got a drive to clean message either even with constant short city driving all winter. It's really a non issue that we enthusiasts have made into something it's not... myself included... LOLOL

any one ever noticed increased exhaust noise when under load and regen. Kinda like a drone or deep humming sound
Yes, I can tell when it hits regen due to sound, heat after parking it, and smell at stop signs/lights/parking. On cold evenings you really feel the heat coming off the car.
Sound wise, it it will get slightly louder and deeper. You can hear it even at freeway speeds to almost hit a resonance. I ha a straight pipe post DPF on a Duramax and the sound difference was even more pronounced than it is on the '17
Got my exhaust filter screen activated while it was at the dealer for the T-case leak. Compared the screen to forscan, interesting, none of the forscan dpf screens mathc the trucks screen.
