6inch lift question concern

So I was thinking about this going into work. Those of you who have a 6 inch lift.... are you still able to go through drive throughs at restaurants and places like that with the 7-8ft clearance bar hanging down???

im curious because if my math is right a 6 inch lift added to these trucks puts it at 7.5 inches of lift with the 1.5 stock included.

You definitely are more limited to where you can go with a lifted rig! Not sure what you mean about "1.5 stock included"? Does your truck already have a 1.5" lift block?

I've yet to be hindered by the lifts on the trucks. I worry more about sharp exits turns thru the drive thru Hitting my rims. 😄

I mean that I was under the impression from the factory these trucks already sit super high. Like someone said they have an inch and a half lift. So I'm saying if you have a 6inch lift that would give you a seven and a half inch lift so then I'm asking has anyone had any trouble clearing those bars that hang down in drive throughs.

And also yeah I know what you mean about the wheels but that's why I think getting a rim that fits the tire is a better idea. People who run 24x14 or bigger are asking for messed up wheels on curbs

I did finish HS and I agree with you

The stock SD height is the height. Adding 6" lift makes it stock height + 6"

Okay.... uh.

https://youtu.be/-UXUGG3ZfAA

listen to what this guy says. I know I'm not crazy. He said with the trucks, from the factory they already sit pretty high. As if someone put at 1.5 inch lift on it. So this guy is saying adding a 4.5 inch lift will equal out to A true 6 inch lift factoring in the stock height.

So so if you take a 6 inch lift and factor in the factory stock height that comes out to 7.5 of lift.

Am am I crazy here?

Yes
Kind of reminds me of guys saying 67-77.5 highboy trucks have a "fsctory lift"

Stock truck is stock, add a 4" lift thats 4"
Amd remember most lifts level the truck so the full lift amount is added to the front and the balance is only ususally added to the rear

To the OP, keep in mind if you lift your truck, then most likely wheels and tires will be next making your rig taller yet. Your end result will be dictated by the components you choose.

As said earlier don't' most of the lifts kits level the truck out 1st? A 4" lift raises the front end 4" and actually only lifts the back end 1 1/2". The truck then sits level but only 2" taller overall. You now have the option of running a 37" tire which gives you almost another 2". Between the tires and the lift you get your 4". So a 6" lift doesn't necessarily mean the truck sits 6" taller.

Do you find yourself straining to get into the 4.5 inch lifted truck?

im 6"2 so I don't have a hard time which is why I'm thinking the 6inch will be fine for me. I'm just concerned about clearing stuff in a drive through. Obviously I won't be able to park in a parking garage

Wait...here's the new math:

* Stock truck
* It's 2" taller = +2"
* 4" lift = +4"
* 37" tires = +2"
* Feels like 2" more = +2"

Total: 10"

Just kidding

its a climb for sure with the lift and tires but im closer to 5'10. All i was saying is its way taller than i ever imagined it would be.

I have had no issues with my truck (I dont use parking garages though). I have a 6" lift and 38" tires.
I think what the op was referring to is that the 17 superduty trucks sit roughly an inch and a half taller (stock) then the 16 super duty trucks did. I had a 4" lift and 37" tires on my 14 and my stock 17 was only roughly 2 1/2" inches shorter.
so if your were to compare overall height of a 16 vs 17 both having a 6" lift and the same tires the 17 would sit higher.
