Decided to register today after a year or two of lurking. I have an 2001 2wd F250 with the 7.3 I've owned it for. 2 years problem free except for the mech diode blowing up in my 4r100, so last night I started it up to let it warm up a minute as I was getting ready to leave I had a work related call I had to answer so I shut it off so I could hear when I went to start it again the second I hit the starter I lost all electrical power the power came back 10 seconds later when I tried to start it again it just clicked let it sit for a minute or two and it turns over now tach shows rpms wts light lights and I can hear fuel pump running also no smoke out exhaust I left it on the charger overnight last night and tried to start it before I went to work still nothing I also checked all the fuses and still nothing ,thanks in advance for and help
Check your battery connections and other battery cable connections. Sounds like a bad connection that's limiting current.
It turns over fast it just won't fire off the tach is showing about 200rpms when cranking I have the cables a quick clean last night I'll do a better job tonight
maybe a year and a half the truck sat for maybe 6 months so I pulled both batteries and had them tested and both passed there 850cca and tested at 750cca
If it sat for six months, it's possible critters got in and chewed wiring or something. Make sure there's not a nest in your air filter while you're at it.
ok so I took out the battery's and one of them must of shorted out internally it only tested at 7.31 volts and zero CCA! Moral of the story is buy decent batteries not parts store house brands
