I've never seen this before. I believe he said it was a 1983 F150. With a 4x2 badge. He was told it was because the truck had a locking rear end. Interesting.
As shown here, the part number for that name plate is E5TZ 16720-A. The "E5" of E5TZ says it was designed in 1985, so it cannot be correct on a 1983 truck.
A coworker bought a flareside brand new in 1985 and it had these badges. Best
my rememberer remembers it had tu-tone paint, otherwise it was a plane jane
