Its been a while since I posted here, just sharing what I got so far, originally I built a 390 including
750 holey dp performer rpm intake headers d2 heads with Cj valves and 68cc chambers", I cced heads with a kit" comp cams springs kb flattop pistons 8cc
Around 10:2.1 compression, .020 shim gasket,
The quench wasn't happy with being .052, but after months I got it dialed in running 91 100%gas 9 degree base time running smallest thumpr cam 278/296. 226/241. 515/501. 107lsa as for the gears and trans was 4.11. C6 2500 stall, now to say it sounded good for sure but I just didn't get the satisfaction I was looking for, so I changed up and swapped the thumpr out for a howards 289/289 cam,
235/235 548/548 110lsa 2400-6000,
I gotta say i regret going with the thumpr, it was fun and drivable just no where near as quick, bad on gas and it seemed I had to tune it everyday, but this 289 cam pulls this truck like a train from 2800 all the way to 6 grand, kept pulling never seemed to run outta wind so I had to pull a hault lol. So I guess im finished with this truck as its pretty much what ive always wanted, numbers havens always been my thing but ill never have it on the dyno so could anyone give me a good ballpark figure of HP and tq? I just wanna have a good idea on what I got. Thanks For the
help
I dont have a desktop dyno, but I ran the closest thing I could find to your Howards cam (292H) through the compcams camquest. I guessed that you had small tube headers (1.75dia) and after adjusting a bit for their dyno (usually reads high) I would say you're in the area of 365-390hp and 415-430tq. I know those are pretty vague numbers.. If you're familiar with some of the other FE forums (fordfe.com & fepower.net) you can ask a member (Werby) to run your combo through his "Gonkulator" lol. He's gonked thousands of FE combos and has tons of other other dyno and track numbers to constantly adjust and fine tune his estimates. Best dyno for any FE guy without putting it on one IRL. Just my 2cents
thanks for the imput, i just using some cheap flowtech headers the specs say there 1 3/4 in tubing, 3 collector and also thanks for letting me know about these fe forums i never had actuelly heard about them until now lol
