I have a stock 1994 Mazda B3000 SE standard cab, 5-speed, bucket seats, center console with fold down/up armrest. The hinged plastic armrest bracket, which bolts into the back of the console underneath, is broken and I've cleanly separated it from the armrest which is still in good shape. Anybody know whether or not a Mazda dealer can still get this armrest support bracket? Is it the same part that a similarly-equipped '94 Ranger would have -- can a Ford dealer get it? Also looking for the black **** that goes on the end of the triangular headlight switch shaft in the cab.
Junkyard would be good for something like that. Some can do a search from all over and have it taken off the vehicle and shipped to them. Dealers expensive to begin with, but as far as them having it or being able to get it.. just call.
I was just wondering how many people have one of the center armrests that hasnt cracked or broke. The plastic in the lid on my 94 ranger is cracked and it wont shut tight. It seems that there is hardly anyone with one in good shape....
It took me 4.5 years to find one in the salvage yards that still had the latch that wasn't broken...I was assured by the gentleman behind the counter that I had found the ONLY one is michigan that isn't broken! In 97 the dealer wanted $285 for the whole thing, I found that a peice of twine worked well to keep the lid closed and it was extremely cheap! www.car-part.com is a good place to start looking!
Finally decided that the armrest bracket, once it is mated to the armrest itself, cannot be removed without destroying the inrtegral torque bolt in the bracket. Looked high and low in the junkyards for a bracket with an armrest attached but no joy. Finally just removed the broken bracket head from the armrest by cutting the torque bolt out.
The good news -- the local Ford dealer ordered the part from a '94 Ford Ranger schematic, it fit perfectly, and the new bracket has a steel liner which makes it *much* tougher than the original all-plastic bracket. Got it in 2 days.
