Tire advice & suggestions

Need to replace all four Goodyear Polyglas RWL GT tires (G-70-15 on front & H-70-15 on rear ) on "Art" the hot rod truck . Granted they look cool but every pebble on the road is felt & the truck follows every crease in the road . It is all over the place .

Am thinking about 275-60-15 on the rear ( 28 " tall & 10.7 wide ) & 215-70-15 on front ( 26.68 " tall & 8.58 wide ) Maybe something a little narrower as it does not have power steering .
Will give me plenty of contact patch for the BB FORD to hookup and almost 1/1/2 " of style rake .
Any one feel free to post your tires sizes for comparison . Thanks , Denny

Mine currently has old bias ply tires. L60-15 (275/60-15) in the rear and G60-15 (245/60-15) in the front. I am planning on replacing tires and wheels when I move it home so I am going narrower on the rear. The L60 (275) rear tires stick out of the fenders which is a look I do not prefer as I've aged. It was tough to steer with G60 (245) front tires with no power steering and a 390 engine. It now has power steering.

I'm leaning towards same size tires and wheels all around when they are replaced. 17x8 wheels and 245/50 or 245/55 tires. I'll work with the suspension to get the best stance.

FYI, even with a 275 rear tire, if your motor makes a fair amount of power the truck won't hook up. Not enough weight in the back.

I got BF Goodrich radial T/A 275-60-15 on 8" rims, rear & 215-70-15 on 6" rims front. I like the look and they give a nice ride too.

New shoes for " Art"

The 38 yr. old Goodyear Polyglas GT RWL belted / bias ply tires are history .
Now riding on BFG P27560/R15 rears ( 28" tall & 10.7 wide ) w/ P21570R15 fronts ( 26 13/16 tall X 7.6 wide ) An very anxious to take it for a drive & feel the improved ride .

Thanks to all that responded w/ input & pics .
Put the white letters in this time . Had enough yrs. of cleaning white letters . Thought I would change it up this time .Looked at many hot rods at the regular tues. night car show & just a few had the letters out . Gives it more of a hot rod look .

OK. Pix on the truck? Should be nice. Now what do you do with your old Polyglas tires? Let me know. I have a set of 45 year old E60-15s upstairs in the barn.

Pete , will have the truck out soon & will take some pics on level ground & report back on the ride comfort .. Put the tires on Craigslist & see what happens . If no results put an ad on the HAMB or ebay . Some guy from Detroit is interested in the G70-15 tires . Haven't heard back from him so on ebay they went .Good luck .Need to recoup the $$ to pay for he new tires .

Swung by the race shop today . Pete & I put the toe stick on the front end & checked the toe.It was fine . So now need to get a steering box rebuild kit & rebuild it . Has way too much play . The new tires made a huge difference in smoothness of ride . Was told by a guy at the stop light "That is just beautiful " This truck is way too much fun to drive . The wife likes it more compared to the stock truck since it has comfy buckets seats as opposed to the stock bench seat . This truck loves fuel !! Must learn to be easy on the pedal .It is difficult since I know what is there .
Am very pleased w/ the stance .

I would love to see the plumbing for those lakes pipes. What mufflers are you running with them?
