so far i have two problems one is my usual trans oil leak(last weekend i replaced filter and seal and new trans oil. now, when i start the truck and shift to drive i have to wait 10 seconds until i feel it go into drive gear? any suggestions.
c6 and the fluid i not sure starts with the D and i think it has a 3 somewhere one becuase it took me a while to find which one it was until i found the manual where my dad had written it. Has anyone had this problem beforewith a delay?
dexronIII/Mercon is what you added. that works, but i noticed harsher shifts with it on my c-6. i believe for the c-series trannies your supposed to use F-type trans fluid.
it shouldnt take a long pause like that even with Mercon, check your trans fluid level. you may be a quart low.
I had a similar delay in my c6. It got worse and worse. In the winter it took 2-3 minutes to go in gear. A rebuild fixed it up though. I believe my delay was caused by worn out seals not building pressure like it should to make it shift. Once mine went in to gear it was fine. Reverse always worked fine, just going in forward gear that was a problem.
For a daily driver, yeah it is a pain. But I did my own rebuild. Got the parts for $100.00 and a hayes techbook for rebuilding trannies at Autozone. Never did one before in my life.
