I just cleaned the MAF and IAC on my 92 X 4.0L because it was stalling out from the start. After reattaching them, it still started and idled very rough even though it didnt die. When I was putting the IAC back on, the inside of the throttle body also seemed to have lots of buildup. Can I spray carb cleaner in there and it be ok? Once the engine got warm it seemed to idle fine most of the time. Though now I do hear a hissing sound from the area around the IAC. It could be a sucking sound, but I looked at the vacuum tree at the back of the manifold and it seemed to have everything attached. I think Im going to get a bottle of fuel system treatment for the injectors and stuff, but I want to get rid of this rough idle.
That certainly sounds like you have a vacuum line loose...that will certainly cause rough idle. There are ports at the back side of the tree (pointing towards the firewall) that you can't see very well...did you check those too? Mine used to blow the caps off...it was annoying as hell.
Mine's got some buildup in there too and I was wondering the same thing. Maybe somebody who's a real mechanic can answer that question for us.

I would recommend cleaning the throttle body. Be sure to use a cleaner that is safe for throttle bodies. Some have a coating inside the TB that reduces build up. The wrong kind of cleaner can eat away this coating allowing the oil film to accumulate faster. Use an old tooth brush to scrub away the deposits.
Hope this helps.

defenatly the pvc tubing put unlit propane torch around the rear of engine when it starts to run good yoy got it or just pullout the pcc tubimg they wil have cracks on the elbows see my post under staling and i got it from someone else here saved me a bundle
I looked around, and it does look like there is a tube off the back of the vacuum tree. I cant seem to find the hose that connects to it. Is there any danger to driving it if it is hooked? It seems to even out the idle if I cover that port with my finger, so that seems to be my rough idle problem. Does anyone have an idea where this hose would connect to? Thanks guys.
