What should the gap be?

The champions advertise as 0.045". So if that the case, mine wore away over 0.010".

What does ford say? I still cant find my book....

I didn't think of that.

I checked, and my emission sticker is MIA. I suppose it was never replaced when it got fixed in a previous wreck.

My Ford Service Manual shows this:

Spark plug gap 1.32-1.42 mm (0.052-0.056 inch)

I've found that spec elsewhere.

curious though, mine measured only a couple thousandths out of spec and it was misfiring. That and Champion is gapping them much closer than the spec, autolite as well at 0.049"

now I'm really glad I didn't measure the new plug before I put it in. if I had measured it and looked up the spec, it would have bothered me to no end to install it at 0.045" ... ignorance truly is bliss
