Good to hear you've had good experiences with Four Seasons parts. I'll ask them whether they used a variable orifice tube. Great idea. Thanks.

The guy said the r134a charge he started with was based on a formula for converting from r12 to r134a, which apparently results in using less r134a. He said he put a little more in, closer to the amount of r12 called for, and it was cooling better. He said he put a little more in than that and it stopped cooling as well, so he backed it off a bit.

I would go buy or loan some gauges and take a look at what's going on. One quick thing to check though, make sure the blend door is moving full travel as you turn the temperature control in the cab.

If the compressor runs constantly, that indicates an under charged system......or an incorrect orifice tube.....or a blend door issue.if you know how to read a set of gauges you can figure out how much "Freon" you need.......If they won't make it right, I'd stay in touch with that lawyer.........Sounds to me that the shop hasn't got a clue......

Just yesterday I was at a friends' shop, He specializes in Mercedes and BMW, so these were not Fords. He just had two four seasons compressor shred themselves in the first week. Take this for what it's worth. Four Seasons sell thousands of AC parts, and you have only heard two differing reports. If the compressor on yours is bad, the tech should be able to know.
