Transmission Question

Seriously considering a 2004 V10 Excursion with 82,000. The trucks first owner did much pulling with it. Probly 5-6k a year camper pulling. That was its life for the first 70k. Should I have transmission concerns? It drives and shifts great.

It depends on maintenance more than anything else. Was the fluid changed or is it still original? Does is smell burnt at all? How much did the camper weigh? Is there a trans temp gauge installed? These are trucks, built to work and haul every day. If it was well maintained, then it wouldn't scare me away, especially with only 82k on it.

Wouldn't scare me at all, as long as like Andy said, the fluid is bright red and doesn't smell burnt at all. I currently have about 30K towing miles (almost all of the EX's miles are towing the 11k TT) on my 4R100 trans fluid and it is still bright red and not burnt with excellent trans performance and operation. I am due for a change, and it will be getting a new 6.0 cooler at that time also.
