87 threw 96 F150 tail gates is a direct drop in fit. 87 threw 97 F250 HD and f350 is also a direct drop in. Depending on trim level of the donor will be the factor in appearance.
no. 99 and newer superduty tailgates and the 97 F250 LD gate will not fit, they are different size.
as said, 87 to 96 F-150 and 87 to 97 F250 HD and F350 gates are all the same thing
