Been looking at a chart that has been floating around the facebook Excursion pages about different options for V code with moded B code rear springs. On the chart it shows option #3 as being moded B codes, with stock rear block. This option will give a rear rake, not a level ride. My thought is why not take the rear block out, replace the U bolts, and reduce axle wrap, all while getting that level stance?
Or am I missing/not understanding something?
Thanks for your help!
I also did this swap with factory new springs and found the stock rear blocks gave too much rake to my liking. I called up above company and they fabricated a set of 1.5 inch blocks with bump stops and a very small amount of rake angle. I like how my truck sits now. Only issue is these blocks are not cheap. Or you can call Junior, pay way less for springs that are not oem, and have the springs made so you sit where you want it on the stock blocks. Junior sells different options and his springs are top notch. I wish i used him from the beginning. https://www.autoandtrucksprings.com/
Welcome to the forum Jeff!
I don't have a book of faces, so I have no idea what that chart shows or what the various options are. But there are many other options for our EXs other than the V/B(mod) available to include all sorts of mix and match combos to get the ride height just where you want it.
This thread https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...easurents.html includes data from several stock wagons and a wide variety of lifted rigs, it is very good reading for anyone contemplating a suspension change on their EX.
I think deciding on the tire size you want to run first is a good starting point, then your preference for a factory like rake (so it rides level when loaded) or a static level stance or even that *** down stance, if that's your thing. From there consider how you will be using the EX loading wise and or off road flexing to help with spring choices.
Personally, I like the look of 35"s under these wagons, just looks "right" to my eye. So for them I found that I was going to need about 4" of additional ride height. Then fate stepped in and I was gifted a set of low mile X/B springs. The front X codes give more lift than V codes but still not enough for the tires I wanted, so I modded them with an additional leaf, the top overload from the B codes that we can't use on an EX, that gave me exactly 3 7/8" of front lift. On the rear I did the typical B mods as well as cutting up the stock traction bar and adding two sections of that to each spring pack. Then I swapped the stock EX blocks for a set of the F-350 tapered blocks, this netted a 5/5.5" lift. I wanted the extra rake on my rig because its main job is towing our heavy trailer that has 1400lbs of tongue weight, so once hitched I wanted a semi level stance. These mods worked out very well for me and my EX, I hope that will be as happy with yours when you are finished!
Are you dealing with an axle wrap issue currently? What motor do you have and is it modified? My stock suspension gave me issues with too much movement on the rear axle when towing, but now with my modded B codes and additional block height I don't get any of the unwanted movement and I don't have any problems with wrap running a tuned 6.8 towing 11,000lbs.
@ATS Junior is a site sponsor and can help you out with quality springs and associated parts to respring your EX or Super Duty.
And thanks for the compliment, it looks even better with the 35"s vs those 32"s in my signature pic. I'd update the sig pic but it would break Krazee Matt's heart.

I really like the way your wheel / tire choice looks. It does look good and super functional.
What shock length F/R did you end up using with your suspension change?

Thanks guys, we love it and it handles our heavy towing chores very well with that setup.
I am using Rancho RS9000XL adjustable shocks spec'ed for an EX with a 4" lift. If you want I can dig up the part numbers later today when I have some time. . I really like adjustable shocks but some folks have had longevity issues with them in salty service, I have a few tips to help with that aspect also.

Here is the Rancho RS9000XL shock info;
Front: RS999264 (15.7" X 24.34")
Rear: RS999275 (19.54" X 32.82")
These are for an EX with a 4" lift.
Before installation give each shock 2 or 3 coats of clear paint to help preserve their looks and keep any rust at bay for longer.
To keep the adjusters moving free for a long time remove the adjuster **** and it's base plate with the two small Allen screws and fill their cavity with white lithium grease.
Going to resurrect an old thread here but I've been looking at getting back into the Excursion world and wanted to see what the latest info out there is regarding leaf springs. WE3ZS, your Ex looks great with 35s and that 4" lift. Was thinking that Super Duty Tremor wheels on the factory 35s would look awesome on an Excursion that's modded tastefully.
It would seem that the x or v/ mod B spring lift has gone out of style. The more popular one now seems to be the Pirate Pro-Comp spring lift (it also has the benefit of being A LOT cheaper too). When I first got the Excursion I did a bunch of reading and was all ready to pull the trigger on some v/ mod b springs. I'm glad I kept reading and eventually found the Pirate lift recipe on this site. Works great, rides good, and was a lot easier on the wallet.

Thanks for the compliment, ours is still the same and continues to take care of all of our towing duties, with lots more planned for ‘22 as I’m now retired!
However, if I was starting over I would go with the Pro Comp 4” all spring lift that eliminates the rear block and I would add air bags to handle our heavy TT.
