Thanks for the compliment, ours is still the same and continues to take care of all of our towing duties, with lots more planned for ‘22 as I’m now retired!
However, if I was starting over I would go with the Pro Comp 4” all spring lift that eliminates the rear block and I would add air bags to handle our heavy TT.
Eliminating that rear block sounds great. Been browsing for Excursions and haven't quite found one yet, but I would love to do a 4 inch lift, tremor wheels, tremor side steps...keep it simple and tasteful with mods.
Tremor wheels would need spacers, which I personally do not trust for towing, I witnessed a wheel dismount a vehicle at about 65 mph, the damage they can do, its a good way to get charged with manslaughter.

Valid point. Plenty of folks on here have run *quality* spacers though. I tow perhaps once or twice a year on avg, generally other vehicles, so I would not be terribly concerned about it.
Been looking at a chart that has been floating around the facebook Excursion pages about different options for V code with moded B code rear springs. On the chart it shows option #3 as being moded B codes, with stock rear block. This option will give a rear rake, not a level ride. My thought is why not take the rear block out, replace the U bolts, and reduce axle wrap, all while getting that level stance?
Or am I missing/not understanding something?
Thanks for your help!
Jeff just made that one single post over 5 years ago, so I doubt that you will get a response from him here.
If I recall correctly you are looking for a setup that will serve your towing needs well? If towing will be the plan then having a bit of a rear high rake, like stock, will be a plus as you will have some amount of rear squat when hitched up. I set my EX up with various mods to have a good deal of rake to have it ride level when towing our old toy hauler camper and it did just that, now we have a larger TT with even higher tongue weight so it now has a couple inches of squat when towing.

yes correct. I just got all my ubolts and the rear leaf bolt and other small components….have time blocked on friends lift and feel like I’m ready. Just always thinking through this…
plan on getting a final unloaded slightly high rear rake as you suggest. Will play with it as needed.
I’m also thinking through the gear change using the info and opinion you provided previously. 4.56 is where I think I’m going.
lstky there’ll be a wheel change. I want to grab a set of takeoffs from a new 250….but the backspace on the new rims isn’t enough I think and would require spacers….which I’m not sure about.
steep spacers are pretty $$$ and while they would only be used to set the wheels in proper stance (not wider for looks)….for towing I’m a little sketchy on safety.
you or anyone have an opinion on spacers for the newer wheels and towing safety etc?
yeah I was feeling the same way. Too bad because We can grab some nice takeoffs from the newer trucks but they won’t work.
Gonna have to find some 05 or older or stick with my 16’s I suppose.👎🏻
‘04 and older for trucks, ‘05 and older for EXs. And they will all be 16”s except for the the ‘04 18”s that came in 4 flavors, Harley Davidson, Lariat, King Ranch and SVT, they are all similar 5 spoke 18”x8” wheels that have the correct geometry to properly fit our big wagons, these were the ONLY plus sized (over 16”) OEM wheels of that period.
Heres more info on those wheels with pictures. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post16064812

WOW….that’s a needle in a haystack! All those years they only offered an upsized wheel in that one year and model set?
amazing.
will start watching for them or them aftermarket I guess if I feel I need.
Going to do the springs in the next week or so and get that situated and then see how it sits…and weigh against my possibly gear change too.
