Anyone know if a cover for a dentside would work on a long bed '65? I'm searching for a bed cover and no one makes one specifically for a slick. Most say they will fit Fords no older than '73. Short of having 1 custom made I figured that the later trucks gotta be pretty close to the same size. Anyone know for sure or have a recommendation for a cover that will fit?
Thanks Amish. I saw those both and unfortunately hate 'em both. That's why I was hoping to figure out if a later year would fit.
I posted in the dentside forum and asked that someone measure their bed for me. If that doesn't work I'll head out to the pick and pull with a tape measure and see what might work. That would allow me to compare Dodge and GM as well.
Yeah I hear you. I've been looking myself with no luck. I'm not keen on the ones I linked either but I want a cover and may buy one if I don't find anything. If you do find something that works please update the thread.
Another guy on another site says he got one that fits perfectly from ******** truck lids. He said you have to call them, that they don't have it listed online or catalog.
UPDATE
Spent the day at the local pick and pull and checked out a range of beds from 1975 on thru 1996. Guess what? They're all the same damn size! Did notice slight variations on the shape of the bed side tops as well as the tailgate top edge (some more curved, others flatter) but nothing significantly different. After getting home and then comparing part #s of specific years on through '98, discovered that they all use the same part # as well. Am convinced they will all fit my '65 and ordered one today. Now I'm curious about bed liners.
On another note, found a Westin chrome diamond plate rear bumper to fit my truck as well. Knowing that the frame width changed in '73 I decided to look in the GM section for the hell of it. Found the exact bumper I wanted on a '76 C***Y. Exact same frame width as my '65. No alterations necessary, just have to drill 4 mounting holes.
Just to give you guys or anyone looking an idea of what it would cost for a ******** cover. I requested a quote.
This is what they had to say about their cover:

I was afraid to ask. That costs more than my truck did!
This is what I ordered
I'm really looking forward to hearing how it works. That looks like a nice cover.
Installed the cover yesterday. Fits perfectly! I've had others that seem to be better quality, but worth the $300 I paid. Knowing it fits though means the choices are endless.
Sweet that is great news. I ordered a Extang Full Tilt Snap Tonneau Cover earlier today. I spent a little more money but I think it will work out great. The warranty is what sold me and I like how it covers up a larger space than many of the covers I have looked at.
