TorqShift G

So, what exactly is this transmission? A 6R80? Have not seen any specifications, model number, nothing. Other than a recall for the park lock.

Ford calls it the 6R100 (cert code S) and the TorqShift-G. At present, the only Super Duty model fitted with this AT is the 2017 F250 w/ the 6.2 gas engine {my new F350 w/ the 6.2 is fitted with the gas-version 6R140 (cert code P)}.

Here are some of the specs compared to the 6R140; some specs are also detailed in the 2017 Super Duty sales brochure:

That is a huge difference in lubricant capacity ..... about 46% difference. 11.2 qts to 16.3 qts.

It seems that given the lower 11.2 system would be limited in cooling capacity and lubricant life...... simply because of the significantly smaller capacity. But, I could also be totally wrong. My F-150 capacity is about 14 qt.

Anyway...... just my thought on the specs.

Exclamation

The difference in lubricant capacity for the 6.2 applications is actually larger: 17.4 pts (6R140) vs. 11.2 pts (6R100). That's a 55% increase.

This is (one of the) reasons I went ahead and chose to go F350 instead of F250 for my 6.2L. The 6R140 handles the torque of the 6.7L engine versus the newer Torqshift G and considering the Transmission park pawl recall going on right now with the Torqshift G, I'm glad I did.
