I installed Dynamat dampening pads and insulation panels in my doors, back panel, and flooring today. It was not one of my favorite projects on this truck but it really seemed to quiet things down and took out the tinny sound when the doors close.
Dynamat is great but costs a bunch. As a geek, I get a pile of old "mouse pads" from time to time. I just wash them in the sink with dish-detergent, dry them well, and glue them to noisy sheetmetal. It isn't suitable everywhere of course. It does work on the inside of the doors, and other protected places. Cheap, but not better.
There are better choices for glue, but I use old RTV silicone seal before it gets wasted.
I've done a number of things to quiet things down. My cab is now so quiet, that wind noise is the main sound. Oh yeah, and that exhaust leak....

Good answers. Now is he seriously saying mouse pad as in the ones used for a computer??? That would take a dozen or so pads to cover the inside of both doors. I've never found them that easy to come by.
Cheap camping pads are a good source of sound damping material as well. The nice thing with Dynomat and similar products is that you don't need to cover the entire surface. You get nearly 100% of the damping by covering as little as 1/3 of the surface.

Yes, the adults were talking about computer mouse pads. They are usually 1/4 inch or so black foam and not a bad idea if you happen to have a few dozen or so.
I've sometimes wonder when not using the best that money can buy, and use the second best or other stuff.
Often makes me wonder how much better the best stuff would have controlled the noise over what, I used.
When using the best on the market one can only thing how much better if you used a double layer as most of it is 80 mil. to 1/16" thick. Which seem to work best for a sound system when in the Bass mode to cut down on vibrations of the body sheet metal.
I covered the base sound matting with a 1/4" foam board glued where needed just cut the heat and sound down that much more when you've installed AC and a better sound system. Then you find out how much wind noise your door seals make.
Now you've got to readjust the doors to seal better.
I drove my truck to the upholstery shop this morning and I can tell you that it is shocking how much quieter the interior is. It is quieter than my 2016 f-150. I got the kit for the floors, doors, back wall, and roof for 299.00. That is a steal, it was all precut with all the supplies such as 3M glue, roller etc. I couldn't be happier. I already replaced all the door weatherstipping, glass runs, felts etc.
