Hey all new to this area of the site. Bought an '85 F250 from the sellers of the house we had bought, amazing documentation was included dating back to his original purchase in 1992. Included was enough spare parts to rebuild it twice over. 4 transmissions, a transfer case and 2 460 long blocks were in the bed of the truck. I believe that all the transmissions are c6's, one for a 460, 2 for a 390/FE engine, but this last one has me stumped.
It appears it may match up with the 460 with what looks like an alternate bolt pattern on the block but none of the holes are drilled out. Here are the other 3 transmissions, if anyone can help me pinpoint specific applications for them that would help me out a ton.
That's a late 60's Lincoln C6 transmission. Its odd bellhousing was designed to clear the HVAC system used at that time. They are an oddball...I've only seen one in person from a 1968 Continental and they were only used on Lincolns. They were originally designed to bolt to the Lincoln 462 engine but when the 460 was introduced in 1968, some of the early Lincoln specific 460 blocks had a dual bolt pattern like this so they could continue using the same transmission:
They won't fit a regular corporate 429/460...the only thing it will fit is either a 460 with the dual pattern or a 462.
The other two look like C6s with the FE bolt pattern but I can't see the pattern on the middle one very well.
Thanks for the info, the right and middle trans are both round FE style, the left one is another 460 style. I was just curious since one has a short tail housing and the other is long. this whole truck has been a sort of treasure hunt, trying to identify all these extra parts that were left behind
