I've noticed that if you use the interior handle to open a locked door, the door unlocks and opens without using the unlock button. This only seems to work on the front doors. The rears need to use the unlock button to unlock them before the handle will open the door. Seems strange that the rear doors don't behave the same way.

Do the '17's have a "child safety switch" somewhere on the rear doors? Some vehicles are equipped with them, and in the "safe" position will act the way you describe.
Sounds like an additional child safety feature. If the child door lock switch is on you can't open the rear door even if it's unlocked. It must be opened from the outside.
My rear door locks don't unlock from pulling the inside handle either. This is a major annoyance as I shouldn't have to unlock the doors just so the rear passengers can get out. I checked the child locks and they are not on. Hopefully someone figures out a Forscan option or it gets fixed when I go in for my first oil change.
My 2011 Yukon would unlock the doors if you shifted into park. That would solve the problem for sure. I don't think we have that option on the SD though
