Got the ABS Headliner Installed
I had a friend that does upholstery cover the ABS, I did not know that there is different types of auto vinyl, the one I originally bought and butchered was the none stretchable type...Go Figure..so he got the right stuff and did a great job on it, I got it in by myself in about an hour and a half, I took the clips off and used chrome upholstery screws, looks pretty good and was not that hard to install. Here's a picture.

Oh man, nail in my heart. I have been dreading installing mine for that very issue, dome light. Any tips? Did you break off any of the stock clips on the abs panel when first installing? Just wondering why you replaced with screws. I like the way the screws look so if I break my clips, I have a good option. Wonder how difficult it would be to stick the upholstery to those panels, looks super nice.

Ok, for the Dome like you need to pop the headliner up and basically get it in position and mark the center where the dome like goes, I drilled a hole about ( or at least I tried) in the middle of the recess, then I used an air saw and cut small squares out until I could see what was what and kept cutting you'll see once you do it when you get a hole I just followed the recess, if I were to do it again I'd cut the dome light section before I upholstered, didn't really matter because the Dome light is a lot bigger that the recess it sits in. Took about an hours but I was taking my time as it was already upholstered. I knew from the start I wasn't going to use the clips, I like the upholster screws, they will look good with everything else I got going on so I popped them off right away. Clips or screws it fits good and looks great..I got one solid side window done today, now I'm going to insert thread certs for my door panels before I put the door back on. took me 5 hrs to get one window in, wasn't that bad , but it's tricky. it rolls up and down but gets a little tight in one spot, I'll have to investigate the problem. And to think I though building a old truck would be easy...lol, shame on me, I built a Factory 5 Cobra and a 66 Mustang GT350 replica in the time it's taking me to build this thing.

That's awesome tech tips. I'm happy to know if I break the clips there is a really good option and with better more reliability. I have three of these trucks I'm working on. Two are going together side by side and the other one is in holding pattern waiting for everything I have learned on the first two.
