Hi. I have a 70 f250 and the area under the battery tray had corroded. There is a new battery tray in place but the inner fender needs repairing. Is there a patch panel available for this? I live in the UK so don't really want to ship an entire inner fender.
They make the upper portion, where the hood hinge mounts. Nothing for battery try that I know. My first truck I just made my own patch. Nothing fancy since it is under the battery.
Bump side stuff is hard to find but dentside stuff is still around. I used a dentside inner as a donor for a patch. Was pretty close and ended up looking good. Hope this helps.
Hi thanks for the reply. The battery area on my truck has a slightly raised bit so that that the battery can sit level due to the inner fender sloping slightly down towards the front of the vehicle. I tried to take some pictures today but I had already put the battery back on so took from underneath.
Bit difficult to see raised bit of inner fender. You can see the battery tray is level but the inner fender slopes.
The patch that Gary made would work fine (and nice work on that patch, BTW!). That would probably be the way to go. It won't look exact, but, unless you're doing a concourse restoration, this should take care of it!
No it's not concourse, I just try and keep the truck as original as I can, it's more of a preservation project than a restoration. It's in really good condition and has been taken care of by somebody before me. The only upgrades I know of is a slightly later 460 engine as opposed to it's original 390, msd ignition and a new radiator.
I was more worried about the battery not sitting level than the look of the panel that needs replacing.
Yeh your probably right. I need to get it done before protecting the underneath of the vehicle. Only part i need now are bedside trim. Looking for original parts.
