Inline 6 hot starting

I drove my Bronco to the store when I came out it acted like the battery was dead. I came back 3 hours later and it fired right up. Any ideas what it could be? I was thinking maybe the voltage regulator? Thanks

you just need to check out a few things, your starter could be giving up to the heat, clean and check your ground, and you may need to replace the pos. cable going from the solenoid to the starter, they may look good on the out side but as they get old, and repeated times of gotting extreamly hot the wires on the inside will start to break down especialy when hot, and they wont transfer the amperage required, just some thing to check, i'm shure mor of the guys will jump in later with more ideas. Good luck! DW

Thanks, I'm going to get it tested and see if it's bad. What are symptoms of a bad voltage regulator then?
