There is still quite a bit of slack in the steering. I would consider it "excessive". However, the binding is gone. We cleaned the crud out of everything that moves and put new lithium on it. I also cleaned uo the rotating contacts for the horn and speed control contacts as well as lubed them up with some fresh dielectric grease. The steering wheel, tilt mechanism and lock cylinder all work like they are new again.
The binding and jumping is gone now. I am thinking the intermediate shaft is worn excessively. The rag joint is probably torn also. We will inspect that soon.
