just replaced compressor, accumulator, evaporator, orifice tube, low side pressure switch hoses from condenser to compressor. Ac still don't blow below 60 degrees while driving around 70degrees at idle and when in stop and go traffic it gets up to 80. I flushed the condenser. Could it possibly be the clutch fan?
First off why did you do all the initial work? What was the first problem.
Check blend door. Check diverter vacuum line on heater hose..
Back in the day we used to grab the suction line on the compressor to see if it was cold. That's the way to tell if you had enough freon in the system or close. You maybe be heating the air...watch the compressor for cycling and the suction line for cold.
Compressor was short cycling and wasn't cooling as well so I replaced all but condenser. Still not cooling very well at idle or stop and go traffic. Driving down the road it gets as low as 60 degrees. Compressor seems to be working like it should aside from only blowing 60 it cycles correctly. I replaced blend door actuator and can see it moving when I change the settings. Diverter vacuum hose I checked yesterday and it's pulling vacuum and also seems to be working properly. When it was charged 36oz was put in and it read around 35psi along with 9oz of pag oil I am open to any suggestions and do appreciate the reply
Check the suction line for real cold and the high pressure line for real hot.. Short cycle is usually low freon.. All systems lose it. Need to look at your pressures...High should be up there...Depends on outside temp. 175-300 approx.
I wouldn't think the fan could be that bad... Check for blockage in front. Check clutch for drag..
Does it ever get cold?
The 2 ac lines will condensate pretty good and be real cold the high pressure will be hot. And I had plenty freon in the system when it originally quit blowing cold and I had a bad vibration cause by the clutch on the compressor. Since it got recharged the coldest it will blow is 60 driving. Idle around 70 degrees but when the motor gets around 200 in stop and go traffic it hits 80. That's the only reason I suspect the clutch fan
Thing is if the fan wasn't working you probably would overheat. At 60 mph if it's not 43 deg the fan isn't the issue. Can the orifice go in backwards?
Do you have a set of gauges? make sure the water valve is working. feel the hoses.
It probly can go in backwards but I put it in the correct way. There's only 1 way an extractor can remove it. I do hear my fan come on and the ac temp drops pretty good but never below 60. Maybe the clutch is slipping on the fan and it don't turn like it should. I know that it blew really cold before and then one day it crapped out on me. I figured replacing all the parts would take care of it. I'm not around my gauges to double check what's going on I'll have to wait till this weekend
If the high and low pressures are within spec look at the temp blend door actuator or actuators if you have a dual zone. Verify the door(s) gaskets are present and accounted for.
Did you find the problem yet? The only way to be sure of the charge is to weigh it in according to the specs. Did the compressor come with oil in it, if so why did you add so much oil?
