Need input to help make up my mind as to the better fit. Currently have a rebuilt 1972 390 FE in my 66. Nothing major with the rebuild, Edelbrock 4 bbl intake, RV cam, Hedman Headers. Looking at either Edelbrock 600 CFM or 650 CFM. Keeping with manual choke. Truck is a 3 speed moved to a floor shift.
Maximum Engine RPM : 6000
Engine Size in Cubic Inches : 390
I get these as the output numbers. 600CFM should be a fine choice.
Street Carb CFM : 575.52
Racing Carb CFM : 744.79
My 1971 Trans Am came stock with a single Rochester Quadrajet 7041267 rated at a whopping 820 CFM and flow tests show as much as 828 CFM. They actually had to go to a larger mechanical fuel pump canister to hold enough fuel in reserve to feed the carb during heavy sustained throttle or WOT.
Thanks Chad. I was leaning to the 600 myself, but always good to get opinions from guys that have done it. Most of my friends don't do cars, so I'm kinda a loner in that category. More into bikes.
