Question on newly wired in radio

Hey guys, just thought I'd bug you all for some pointers. I just bought a cd player/radio for my 69' f250. I ran brand new wiring for the ground and 12v power, and I stuck the cd player in the glovebox (like hell I'm actually going to "modernize" the look) so after I wired up the speaker( put a cheepie under the seat) and hooked up the ground, I connected the power supply to the fuse box, and slid in the connector to the lights/ dash illumination fuse. All ran great and everything was working until it started blowing the fuse. I'm going to assume that either the cd player is too much power and will keep overloading the circuit? Should I be hooking it up elsewhere for its power supply? I want to avoid hooking it up directly to the battery. Any input would be appreciated!

On the fuse panel there are a couple of spots where you can use a spade connector to wire direct to the panel but you'll need to have an in line fuse on that wire.
