Do we have a source for a plug for the hole in the dash where the factory cigar lighter would go. Looks to be approximately 1". By the way, I have a 56 F100. Not very keen on chrome either. whats available?
I've been toying with the idea to make the open space the button for my garage for opener. . Just need to solder on a piece of wire to your existing door opener. Then to a new push type switch. Then use a **** that matches the rest on your dash to blend in.
I would wire the switch into the controls on the bars of my Bikes. Made it so easy to roll up at the end of a long ride and not have to fuss finding the opener in a pocket with gloves on or get off the bike to go open the door.
If you don't have to have the ***** match this would be a good fit too. Flush switch
I was just over at the local Home Depot last night looking through the hardware drawers...they have a whole selection of plugs for not much $$. The cleanest fix would be to fill the hole and use some touch up paint on the repair.

And this option is cheaper than anything the auto parts houses have.

As an aside, those Home Depot hardware drawers have some really neat stuff in them that we use for our restorations.
Did Ford have a separate hardware catalog that would possibly have small items not listed in their main parts catalogs. I haven't been to the local hardware stores yet. This is still concerning the dash plug that capped off the hole for the lighter.
